There is truly no place more relaxing than sitting on the banks of the Murray River surrounded by River Red Gums watching river life flow around you.
This list of dog friendly cabins on the Murray River runs from west to east and will help you find pet friendly accommodation to book on or near the Murray River in Victoria as well as some over the border in NSW.
Please note, I don’t consider ‘dogs on request’ or ‘pre-approval required’ dog friendly. I have included just a one line link to those options to help you find as many places as possible when availability is limited.

Facilities
This absolute riverfront caravan park is a great choice for a weekend away for those self catering or not looking to walk out to eat. It’s surrounded by a more natural bush setting while only being a short drive to Mildura.

These are fully fenced dog friendly cabin style accommodation. While it doesn’t actually have this in the booking description, under their pet policy it mentions these apartment cabins are full fenced saying: – ‘We have 2 fully fenced (colourbond) apartments that are pet friendly and secure.’
Note no pets from 26th December – 3rd January and Easter long weekend.

Lake Boga is a short 15 minute drive from the Murray River at Swan Hill (plus the river is accessible from other areas). The Murray River and has a local pub with dog friendly outdoor tables available.

The Lake Boga Caravan Park is right on Lake Boga and is a great spot if you love your watersports with access straight onto the Lake, in a small town location while still being close to Swan Hill. Keep in mind it is still on the side of the road, this is not bush camping.

Barham Holiday Park – Big 4 (NSW)
Located over the border in NSW Barham has a range of well-equipped but affordable pet friendly cabin options as well as cheap budget cabin for a getaway near the Murray River on a budget.

Rich River allows dogs in deluxe and standard accommodation however an extra cleaning fee applies so make sure you budget for that. Also you mostly can’t book online you have to call or email.

Please note all of the accommodation at Wakiti requires you to keep your dog off the furniture and out of carpeted bedrooms so this is not a good choice if your dog is used to sleeping in the bedroom with you. Or maybe a byo baby gate or similar to keep them out but still be able to see you could work.

A lovely leafy haven, this holiday park is more of a destination than just somewhere to sleep as its over the border in NSW and about a 45 drive from Echuca. However, it has fantastic facilities and while I havnt visited myself, my parents just stayed there in 2023 and really enjoyed the leafy bush surrounds.
Morning Glory River Resort

Pets are welcome in all the Villas at Morning Glory River Resort.
Morning Glory has a range of accommodations from studio to 4 bedroom that is pet friendly and many 2 bedroom + options have fenced decks for pets. Here is a sample however more are available on their website:
Facilities
Morning Glory River Resort is a little further to drive as you do need to go through Echuca Moama and travel a bit into NSW however it is a huge property with plenty of river access, walking and bike trails. Its the perfect place for a dog friendly catch up with family and friends with plenty for everyone to do.
Annoyingly, you cannot book online (you have to send an enquiry) however I have included them as they have so many dog friendly accommodations options as well as dog friendly wheelchair accessible accommodation and space to explore with dogs.
Tocumwal: The Boomerang Way Tourist parks direct website says they have a pet friendly option for the Two Bedroom Ensuite Cabin but you have to call to book it. There is no mention of this on their gday parks page.

This park has good reviews, is only a short walk from the Murray River and the Yarrawonga Regional Park and is a short 5-minute drive to town and Lake Mulwala.
Wadonga Dog Friendly Cabins Accommodation
If you are looking for pet friendly accommodation in Wadonga Victoria there are some great options available. Wadonga is close to the Murray River but its also a good place to stop for dog friendly accommodation between Melbourne & Sydney.

Facilities
This clean & affordable cabin is in a park located around a 10 minute drive away from the Murray River and a short drive from other parks and reserves.
It seems to be booked out quite a long way in advance so you may need to plan ahead or book midweek. Reviews suggest the park is well maintained and the staff are helpful and friendly.
This would also be a handy dog friendly place to stay on the drive between Geelong/Melbourne and Sydney and the park is located in a convenient location to the Hume Freeway Albury Wodonga bypass.
Albury All Seasons Tourist Park- NSW

While technically located over the border in Albury, this is also a very convenient option for dog friendly accommodation on the Muray river when travelling between Melbourne and Sydney.
Other Albury-Wadonga Dog Friendly Cabins: Albury Gardens has a Pet Friendly Studio cabin however you have to call to book. Big4 & Hampshire Holidays Borderland Holiday Park has a dog friendly cabin but your supposed to call and get pre-approval before booking online (although it does not stimulate this if you book through the Big4 website….)
