The Murray river is one of the best places you can take your dog for swimming and relaxing dog friendly fun. There are loads of dog friendly campsites along the Murray and there are some amazing ones near Echuca.

Generally the further you head out of town the quieter the campgrounds, and your more likely to find less people at the campgrounds without toilets.

Your best source for up to date information from recent visitors is as always wikicamps.

Dog friendly free camping near Echuca

Wills Bend Campground

Wills bend is two campsites, sandbar 1 and sandbar 2, next to one another on the Murray river about 20 minutes drive north east of Echuca in Victoria.

The campsite doesn’t have river views but it has a fantastic river beach for gentle easy to access the water.

HOWEVER do keep in mind that this is campsite with a toilet and can honestly chaos on a long weekend – if you can go away at an alternative time you will have a quieter experience. There is also wake boat noise which are launched from the nearby boat ramp.

Christies Beach

Another super popular campground Christies Beach also has river access and toilets available. Again, this campground gets hectic on long weekends and throughout summer, plan to visit in quieter times of the year if you would prefer a less busy experience.
